Garrett Schanel-President
Already a seasoned veteran in the glazing industry, Garrett has held every position from driver, fabricator, installer, and project manager to President/Owner and has been with El Paso Glass for 16 years. Although he has moved into ownership, he still has his hand in all the projects here in Denver to ensure a smooth and successful project. In his free time, he’s most likely to be on the golf course or hunting whatever is in season.
Joseph Stading – Project Manager
One of the newer project managers who joined the El Paso team in April 2022. Joseph has spent the last 30 years living in Colorado Springs, CO, and has several years of experience in customer service, Quality Assurance, and various areas of construction knowledge. He brings a positive attitude to the team and is always willing to learn something new. Joseph spends most of his free time enjoying a lovely evening with his wife at the local Karaoke spots and has a plethora of trivia knowledge.
He also enjoys spending his weekends riding on his motorcycle or getting away from the city for a nice camping retreat. Joseph truly loves the outdoors, whether it's going on expeditions for crystal mining and hunting for fossils or a nice day on the lake in his kayak. He was an avid skateboarder for many years and is a big fan of extreme sports. His favorite shows to watch are Survivor, Game of Thrones, and South Park. Joseph enjoys making people laugh with his impersonations and knowledge of movie quotes. He enjoys listening to all types of music and was a drummer in a band for many years.
Charla Smead – Project Manager
Although Charla is a relative newcomer to the construction industry, she has an extensive background in customer service, purchasing, inventory control, and vehicle maintenance. These skills make her a natural fit for the project management team to help keep your project running smoothly. Charla has worn many hats for El Paso Glass and brings a positive “Get ‘er done” attitude daily. After quickly moving through Admin, Fleet Manager, Delivery Coordinator, and Assistant Project Manager to Project Manager, she has developed a strong foundation of knowledge to continue building upon.
Charla never passes up an opportunity for an adventure. She spends most of her spare time diving in the Caribbean or backcountry camping with her husband in the 1979 Volkswagen Westfalia they restored together.
Mike Kramar – Senior Estimator
Mike has been in the glazing industry since 2003 when he started as an installer for a national glazing contractor. From there, he moved into shop manager and production, project management, estimating, and business development, as well as Division manager for a short time. As an estimator, Mike has been with El Paso Glass for over 9 years. With his knowledge and strong work ethic, he has been able to assist numerous GC/Owners with successful projects from design to completion.
In his free time, you will likely find him at his daughter’s sporting events, playing golf, or riding the mountain trails around Colorado.
Tyler Chestnut - Project Coordinator
While new to the Glazing industry, Tyler is a quick learner and can quickly adapt to new work environments. In his current role as Project Coordinator, he assists the Project Managers with their responsibilities and optimizes day-to-day tasks for efficiency.
With years of experience in Sales and Customer service, he has the necessary foundation to become a great asset to the team. When he’s not working, Tyler enjoys spending time outside, concerts, and with friends and family.
Meet The Colorado Springs Team
Erik Martin - President
Growing up in the glazing industry, Erik learned the intricacies of glazing fabrication and installation while working at El Paso Glass during his summer and winter breaks from school. In 2011 Erik graduated with a Construction Management Degree from Colorado State University. After graduating, Erik worked at Zachry Industrial as an estimator for 4 years. In 2014, he returned to El Paso Glass as a Project Manager. Following the successful management of many high-profile and complex projects, Erik was promoted to President and General Manager in 2022.
Melissa - Office Manager
Melissa received her education in Business Management and Administration from Brigham Young University. She has been working in the construction industry since 1969, her experience has been well-rounded with her extensive background in the industry. She has worked for suppliers, subcontractors, and general contractors, which has propelled her into her current role. Her main responsibilities include accounting and contract management.
Leonard Ernst - Production Manager
Leonard has been working in the glazing industry since 1978. He began his career in fabrication and residential glazing. In 1988 he made the switch to commercial glazing, eventually working his way up to being the lead man at job sites. His experience and ability to lead were soon recognized, and in 2001 he was promoted to Production Manager. He now oversees the scheduling and fabrication of all El Paso Glass jobs.
Aaron Dittemore – Estimator
Aaron was introduced to the glazing industry through a drafting internship for an architectural aluminum supplier while in college at the University of Kansas. After school, he started estimating for a local glass company in Lawrence, Kansas, where he worked for 4 years before relocating to Colorado. His passion for the outdoors brought him to the mountain state, where he was able to focus on bidding on larger projects.
When not at work, he ran in trail races and volunteered as a blind running guide for the US Association of Blind Athletes. In 2023, he uprooted again, moving closer to family in Nashville, and now works remotely. In his free time, Aaron enjoys spending time with family, listening to live country music, and volunteering as the church photographer for his local church.
Grant Everson - Project Coordinator
Although new to the Glazing industry, Grant comes into the industry with years of Sales, Customer Service, and Management experience to develop into a solid asset to the industry. Through previous work experiences and collegiate athlete responsibilities, he developed a strong work ethic and the ability to build strong relationships and manage efficiently. He brings a positive attitude around the office and is always ready to learn something new every day. In his current role, he assists Project Mangers with their day-to-day responsibilities to help keep daily agendas running smoothly and has begun managing projects himself.
When not at work, depending on the weather, you can find Grant competing on the golf course or his new current obsession, Pickleball.
Jason Wild – Senior Project Manager
Jason began his career in the glazing industry more than 30 years ago working in a fabrication shop. Since then, he has held various roles with increasing responsibility and leadership, such as service technician, glazier, shop manager, quality control specialist, field superintendent, estimator, and project manager. Jason joined El Paso Glass as a Project Manager in 2022, and since then he has been efficiently managing glazing projects with a focus on quality management and driving results.
